I was born in St Ives in Cambridgeshire and have lived in the surrounding area for many years. I took an A level in art 30 years ago. I recently re-started painting just 6 years ago and found my love for it again. I used to go to Cornwall and specifically Polzeath, as a child, where it stole a piece of my heart and I love coming back. There is nothing like the power of the sea on the Cornish coast.
I’m a member of several art clubs and societies in the east of England, and I am an artist in residence and exhibit at Tecton Art Gallery in Fenny Stratford Milton Keynes. My work has been in several exhibitions, and I took part in a joint exhibition with the talented Alan Moore (abstract) in Mk Arts Central.
I love to paint landscapes, seascapes and urbanscapes using acrylics, oils, and pen and wash. I enjoy free flowing sketches and adding the colour with the wash, in watercolour. I have many different styles and original pieces which are innovative, creative, and modern. I can also paint traditionally when required.
I regularly paint in pastels and have been commissioned to paint many animal portraits I especially like golden retrievers and currently sponsor Irish Retriever Rescue.
I have a small following, on Facebook – Sam Shane Art and Instagram – samshaneart_ and people buy most of my work through word of mouth.
